MRT Putrajaya Line Services Delayed Due to Cable Theft — Rapid KL

MRT Putrajaya Line delay cable theft Rapid KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 -Train services on the MRT Putrajaya Line are experiencing operational delays following a power supply disruption caused by a cable theft incident near Taman Equine Station on Sunday morning, October 4, 2026.

According to an official statement by Rapid KL, the issue was first detected at 5:24 AM when a train became immobilized at Taman Equine Station. Rapid KL’s technical teams were immediately deployed to inspect the site and execute emergency repair work to restore power distribution and normal service levels.

The operator noted that commuters should expect extended platform waiting times, particularly across UPM, 16 Sierra, and Putrajaya Sentral stations.

Alternative Train Routing and Free Shuttle Bus Activation

To maintain connectivity and minimize passenger disruption, Rapid KL activated alternative train routings and free feeder shuttle buses across affected segments:

  • Kwasa Damansara to UPM: Trains arriving from Kwasa Damansara are turning back at UPM Station at 10-minute service intervals.
  • UPM to 16 Sierra: Service between UPM and 16 Sierra stations is operating on a turn-back schedule at 10-minute intervals.
  • 16 Sierra to Putrajaya Sentral: Shuttle train services connecting 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral are operating at seven-minute intervals.
  • Free Feeder Buses: Complimentary shuttle buses have been deployed to cover Serdang Jaya, UPM, Taman Equine, Putra Permai, 16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara, Cyberjaya City Centre, and Putrajaya Sentral stations at 15- to 20-minute intervals, depending on road traffic density.

Advice for Sepang and Airport Commuters

Commuters utilizing the MRT Putrajaya Line to connect with Express Rail Link (ERL) services at Putrajaya Sentral toward Sepang and KLIA are advised to account for extra travel time. Rapid KL recommended that airport-bound passengers consider alternative transit routes via ERL connections at KL Sentral or Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Auxiliary police officers and station personnel have been deployed to concourses and platforms across affected stations to manage passenger flow, while regular audio announcements are being broadcasted.

Rapid KL stated that it views cable theft as a severe security offense that jeopardizes transit safety, adding that real-time updates will continue to be published via its official social media channels and mobility app.
