KOTA BHARU, Oct 7 – A 47-year-old man has been remanded for seven days after allegedly stabbing his nurse wife six times during an incident at Kampung Padang Lepai, Kadok, on Monday.
Kota Bharu District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azmir Damiri confirmed that the suspect was arrested and remanded until October 12, 2026, to assist in ongoing investigations.
“The suspect was detained to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code,” Mohd Azmir told Bernama on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Account of the Incident and Domestic Dispute
The victim’s mother, 78-year-old Zubaidah Abdullah, detailed the harrowing attack that left her daughter hospitalized and herself injured:
- Injuries Sustained: The victim, who works as a nurse, suffered six stab wounds across her body and neck before being rushed to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for emergency treatment.
- Preceding Marital Issues: Married to the suspect for six years, the victim was actively seeking a divorce and had previously lodged a police report following alleged death threats.
- The Ambush: Zubaidah stated the suspect ambushed her daughter in the dimly lit kitchen area. Zubaidah sustained a finger injury requiring two stitches while attempting to pull the suspect away from her daughter.
- Suspect Surrender: Following the attack, the victim’s 12-year-old son ran outside to call for help as the suspect fled. The suspect later turned himself in at the Nilam Puri Police Station.
Police investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code—for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means—are currently active.
