Malaysia Wraps Up 2026 Commonwealth Games Campaign with 16 Medals

GLASGOW, Aug 3 — Malaysia concluded its campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with a total haul of 16 medals, comprising eight gold, three silver, and five bronze.

Weightlifting emerged as the nation’s top contributor, accounting for five of the team’s gold medals alongside a silver and a bronze. Notable victories included Mohamad Aniq Kasdan in the men’s 60kg event, Muhamad Aznil Bidin (65kg), Muhammad Erry Hidayat (79kg), Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslin (88kg), and Mohamad Syahmi Nor Ghazali (94kg).

Malaysia also achieved gold medal success in para athletics, track cycling, and judo. Datuk Abdul Latif Romly secured gold in the men’s T20 long jump, Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang clinched top honors in the men’s keirin, and Amir Daniel Abdul Majeed captured gold in the men’s under-81kg judo category.

The silver medals were earned by Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple in the men’s singles lawn bowls, the women’s pairs duo of Aleena Ahmad Nawawi and Syafiqa Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman, and Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman in the women’s +86kg weightlifting event.

Rounding out the tally, bronze medals were claimed by Bonnie Bunyau Gustin in men’s lightweight para powerlifting, Irene Jane Henry in women’s 48kg weightlifting, Eljoe Gotuoh in the men’s T20 long jump, Mohammad Soufi Rusli and Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim in men’s pairs lawn bowls, and Norazian Daud alongside Jariah Zakaria in the women’s pairs B6-B8 para lawn bowls.
