ALOR SETAR, Nov 2  – Malaysia and Pakistan are actively coordinating follow-up actions following the detention of 130 Malaysian citizens suspected of involvement in online scam syndicates operating in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail disclosed on Monday, November 2, 2026, that the discussions involve the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) and Pakistani law enforcement agencies.

Speaking to reporters in Alor Setar, Kedah, Saifuddin Nasution revealed that his Pakistani counterpart, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, personally telephoned him approximately two weeks ago to formally notify Malaysian authorities of the large-scale arrests.

“During the same period, the Kedah police also conducted an operation that led to the arrest of 33 Pakistani nationals at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), along with several Indian nationals,” Saifuddin Nasution stated. “Consequently, I requested the director of the Bukit Aman CCID to immediately initiate discussions with the relevant departments in Pakistan to coordinate actions regarding this matter.”

He added that bilateral talks remain ongoing and he awaits a full report to determine subsequent legal and diplomatic steps. Regarding the 33 Pakistani nationals arrested at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Saifuddin confirmed they have already been formally charged in court.
