King Welcomes New Foreign Envoys, Appoints Malaysian Ambassadors

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today accepted the Letters of Credence from six newly appointed foreign heads of missions to Malaysia at Istana Negara, while concurrently commissioning five Malaysian diplomats bound for new assignments abroad.

The high-profile diplomatic credential presentation ceremony took place at the Singgahsana Kecil (Small Throne Room) within the national palace compound.

The foreign heads of missions who presented their credentials to the King included Mauritius High Commissioner to Malaysia Rabin Gungoo, Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia Nevzat Uyanik, and Brunei High Commissioner to Malaysia Abdu’r Rahmani Basir. His Majesty also accepted credentials from Nigeria’s Ahmed Olatunji Sulu Gambari, Congo’s Raymond Serge Bale, and Albania’s Ermal Muça.

Following the reception of the international envoys, Sultan Ibrahim presented official instruments of appointment to five senior Malaysian diplomats designated for key global stations.

Heading the list of domestic appointments was Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa, who has been named the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia. Joining him were Jamal Sharifuddin Johan, appointed as the Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam, and Muhammad Radzi Jamaludin, who takes over as the Malaysian Ambassador to Mexico.

Rounding up the new diplomatic assignments were Datuk Shahabudeen Adam Shah, deployed as the Malaysian Ambassador to Italy, and Edi Irwan Mahmud, who will serve as the Malaysian Ambassador to Morocco.

The formal state ceremony was also attended by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary-General Tan Sri Amran Mohamed Zin.
