KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 – His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has granted royal assent to seven Acts of Parliament passed during the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, held between June 22 and July 16.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor announced the royal assent at the opening of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The seven newly assented laws include:
- Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Act 2026
- Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Act 2026
- National Trust Fund Act 2026
- Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026
- Witness Protection (Amendment) Act 2026
- Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Act 2026
- Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2026
Parliamentary Agenda and Budget 2027
Ramli informed the House that the current parliamentary sitting will run for 37 days, concluding on December 8, 2026.
Key items scheduled for the current session include:
- Budget 2027: The second reading and tabling of Budget 2027 has been scheduled for 3:30 PM this Friday, October 9.
- Auditor-General’s Report: Lawmakers will debate the findings presented in the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 2/2026.
- Committee Briefings: The sitting began with three briefings by select committee chairmen regarding their respective committee findings.
At the start of the session, Ramli, on behalf of Parliament, extended formal condolences to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family following the passing of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, on September 28.
