King and Queen Extend National Day Greetings as Over 80,000 Gather in Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, extended their 69th National Day greetings to all Malaysians as the nation gathered at Dataran Putrajaya for the national independence celebrations today.

The royal message was conveyed through a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page in conjunction with the national observance. Their Majesties arrived at the celebration venue at 8:00 am and were received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, who serves as chairman of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day Main Committee.

Carrying the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, the grand event commenced with a formal military ceremony, followed by stage performances and a vibrant parade reflecting the country’s commitment to public well-being, diversity, and national unity.

The extensive march-past featured 10,819 participants across 76 contingents, supported by 22 brass bands, 11 decorated float vehicles, 328 land, sea, and air assets, 112 working animals, and 22 electric vehicles. Adding to the spectacle, a human graphic display on the terraces presented 26 distinct synchronized formations showcasing Malaysia’s multicultural identity, drawing an estimated audience of over 80,000 visitors to the administrative capital.
