KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Kenduri Rakyat MADANI programme serves as a cornerstone initiative during National Month to deepen patriotism and fortify community ties at the grassroots level, said Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
Organised by the Information Department (JaPen) in strategic partnership with multiple government agencies, the programme is designed to give deeper meaning to the core values of national independence.
“There is little meaning in being independent if we are not healthy citizens, if we are not free from drugs, if we do not stand against and fight corruption, or if we do not benefit from the various programmes provided,” Fahmi told reporters at the event today. “So, we hope programmes like this will foster patriotism and a sense of national pride among the people. It also helps strengthen ties within the community.”
Delivering his opening address earlier, Fahmi emphasized that true independence is realized when a society successfully cultivates a harmonious living environment across all racial and cultural backgrounds.
“More importantly, what gives independence greater meaning is creating a MADANI environment and community. This means building strong bonds and close friendships that transcend skin colour, religious beliefs and backgrounds,” he stated.
The community event featured an array of public services and interactive activities, including Rahmah Sales organized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), health screening services, and educational exhibitions set up by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
