JPS Worker Dies in Tragic Sluice Gate Entanglement Incident in Sabak Bernam

SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — A 56-year-old Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) employee tragically lost her life this afternoon after her headscarf reportedly became entangled in a sluice gate roller at the Grand Sabak Hotel Water Gate in Sabak Bernam.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar confirmed that an emergency call reporting the incident was received at 3.35 pm, prompting an immediate deployment from the Sabak Bernam Fire and Rescue Station.

Upon arrival at the location, emergency responders discovered the victim lying on the sluice gate structure.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the team found the 56-year-old victim lying on the sluice gate,” Ashrul Riezal stated today.

“Initial investigations found that the victim’s headscarf had become entangled in the gate roller. She was pronounced dead by Health Ministry personnel and the body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation,” he added.

The victim’s body has been transferred to police custody to facilitate detailed forensic and investigative procedures.
