Iranian Foreign Minister Warns of Decisive Response to Regional Security Threats in Call With Saudi Counterpart

TEHRAN, Aug 2 — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Saturday to discuss what Tehran characterized as ongoing American and Israeli “aggressive actions and conspiracies” across the region, according to a statement by Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministry reported that Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s full readiness to defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security against external threats.

Araghchi issued a sharp warning during the discussion, emphasizing that any military action by the United States or Israel—or any facilitation by regional nations—would trigger a resolute response from Iranian forces.

“Araghchi warned that any attack by the US or Israel, or participation by regional countries in such actions, would be met with a ‘decisive and proportionate’ response by Iran’s armed forces,” the Foreign Ministry noted, adding that those involved would bear full responsibility for subsequent escalation.

The telephone conference forms part of a broader diplomatic push by Tehran to engage regional neighbors amidst rising geopolitical tensions.

Earlier on Saturday, Araghchi conducted separate diplomatic calls with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir to discuss regional security developments.
