TEHRAN, Aug 5 — Iran and Oman are progressing positively in bilateral discussions to establish safe shipping arrangements in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed.
Speaking on Tuesday, Baghaei stated that the ongoing talks between the two coastal nations are advancing across both technical and political levels.
“The talks, which are being held between the two coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, are focused on establishing safe shipping routes while safeguarding the sovereign rights and security interests of Iran and Oman alike,” Baghaei said.
Baghaei noted that Iran and Oman are working to develop the necessary mechanisms for future shipping arrangements, adding that the final outcome will be announced once the discussions conclude.
Iranian officials maintained that the negotiations remain a strictly bilateral process between Tehran and Muscat. Tehran dismissed claims of United States involvement, despite recent comments by American officials suggesting Washington plays a role in developments surrounding the strategic waterway.
