KALABAKAN, Sept 30 – An Indonesian woman was found dead with multiple injuries at a workers’ quarters in Felda Umas 6 Plantation along Jalan Kalabakan on Monday, September 28.
Police have detained her husband in connection with the suspected murder.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh stated that the victim, a 37-year-old plantation worker, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 8:15 PM. She sustained severe injuries to her hands, head, and neck.
Following the discovery, police arrested the victim’s husband, a 38-year-old Indonesian national, who allegedly attempted to slit his own throat with a sickle, inflicting neck injuries. He is currently undergoing medical treatment at Tawau Hospital under police guard.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident was triggered by marital disputes that arose after the couple returned from a recent holiday.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for immigration offences.
