GUA MUSANG, Nov 4 – A temporary flood relief centre (Pusat Pemindahan Sementara or PPS) was activated in Gua Musang, Kelantan, on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2026, to shelter residents affected by rising floodwaters following relentless heavy rainfall.
According to a statement from the Civil Defence Force (APM), the relief centre was established at the Kampung Batu 5 community hall after continuous downpours from Tuesday night through early Wednesday caused local rivers to overflow into surrounding residential areas.
Emergency rescue teams were actively evacuating trapped villagers as of 8:30 AM, with official registration numbers for displaced victims undergoing verification by welfare authorities.
Gua Musang District Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Mohd Roshdi Ismail confirmed that inundated locations include:
- Kampung Batu 2
- Kampung Batu 5
- Kampung Batu 6
- Jalan Gua Musang-Jelawang
“We are also gathering more detailed information from the relevant agencies on the situation in all affected areas,” Mohd Roshdi stated, adding that multi-agency inspection teams have been deployed to coordinate additional evacuations if river levels continue to rise.
Earlier at 6:45 AM, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued an urgent thunderstorm and heavy rain warning covering parts of Kelantan and neighboring inland areas.
APM advised residents residing in low-lying and flood-prone zones to stay alert, monitor weather forecasts, and strictly comply with official evacuation orders from security personnel.
