PETALING JAYA, Sept 18 — Federal Territories Minister Hannah Yeoh has dismissed social media claims that she signed a house arrest order, clarifying that the purported document being circulated online is entirely forged.
In a social media statement, Yeoh confirmed that her press secretary has lodged an official report with the authorities regarding the fake document and emphasized that the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB) has not yet met.
“Please do not circulate this fake document. My press secretary has lodged a report with the authorities,” Yeoh stated.
The circulation of the fake document follows reports that the FTPB is scheduled to convene today to consider a pardon application from former Prime Minister Najib Razak. The board had previously deferred its decision on the matter during its prior meeting on Sept 11.
Najib, 73, has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since August 2022 following his conviction for misappropriating RM42 million in funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd. Although initially sentenced to 12 years in prison and a RM210 million fine, the FTPB subsequently commuted his sentence to six years and reduced the fine to RM50 million.
In December 2025, Najib received an additional 15-year jail term and an RM11.38 billion fine after being convicted of abuse of power and money laundering involving over RM2 billion from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). He is currently appealing that conviction.
