KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is set to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act, following an investigation tied to his asset declaration.
According to court listing system checks, the charge against the Bera Member of Parliament will be read before Sessions Court Judge Suzana Hussin at 9:00 am.
The impending prosecution is believed to center on issues surrounding his declaration of assets. Ismail Sabri had previously been summoned by anti-graft investigators on multiple occasions to give statements regarding his asset disclosures to the MACC.
The case comes on the heels of high-profile enforcement operations conducted by the anti-graft body. During investigations into corruption and money laundering, MACC officers seized RM170 million in foreign currency cash alongside 16 kilograms of pure gold bullion valued at RM7 million.
The substantial seizures were carried out during raids on properties believed to have been operated as safe houses, following the arrests of four of Ismail Sabri’s former senior officers in February 2025.
