MELAKA, Oct 30 – A total of 75 candidates have been officially unveiled by five major political coalitions and parties contesting the 28 seats in the 16th Melaka State Election as of Friday, October 30, 2026.
The candidate announcements commenced in August when Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) became the first political entity to announce its slate of 16 candidates.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) initially declared 21 candidates on October 24 before expanding its lineup to 24 seats, comprising 10 candidates from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), seven from DAP, and seven from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
Barisan Nasional (BN) is contesting 22 seats, deploying 18 candidates from UMNO, three from MCA, and one from MIC.
On Thursday night, Perikatan Nasional (PN) announced five candidates across PAS (two), Wawasan (two), and Gerakan (one), while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) unveiled eight candidates fielding under its own logo.
Based on current declarations, the state election is projected to feature 13 straight one-on-one fights, 11 three-cornered contests, and four four-cornered clashes across the 28 state assembly constituencies.
As of Thursday night, 189 nomination forms had been purchased and 45 candidates had paid their election deposits ahead of Saturday’s official nomination proceedings.
The Election Commission (EC) has set candidate nominations for Saturday, October 31, early voting for Tuesday, November 10, and polling day for Saturday, November 14, 2026.

- Coalition Seat Distributions: Pakatan Harapan (24 seats: 10 PKR, 7 DAP, 7 Amanah); Barisan Nasional (22 seats: 18 UMNO, 3 MCA, 1 MIC); Bersama (16 seats); Bersatu (8 seats); Perikatan Nasional (5 seats: 2 PAS, 2 Wawasan, 1 Gerakan).
