Fahmi Denies Negeri Sembilan Land Encroachment Claims

SEREMBAN, July 23 — Allegations that the Negeri Sembilan state government failed to act against state land encroachment in several villages, including Kampung Pasir near here, are completely unfounded, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil declared today.

Speaking at a PH press conference here today, Fahmi clarified that following complaints, the office of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar and state PH Chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun had immediately initiated follow-up action by requesting a formal report from the Seremban District and Land Office.

Fahmi explained that a thorough review by land administrators subsequently identified 12 houses constructed on state government land. To address the issue humanely, five of the affected households were offered affordable homes by the state government, with their relocation process currently underway.

“As for the remaining houses, the Seremban District and Land Office had prepared a report containing proposed actions for the State Executive Council’s consideration by last May. However, as everyone knows, the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) was dissolved in June,” Fahmi told reporters.

The joint press conference was also attended by Amanah Communications Director Khalid Abdul Samad and Negeri Sembilan DAP Secretary Cha Kee Chin.

Fahmi, who also serves as PKR Information Chief and Communications Minister, noted that the official dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly in early June temporarily deferred several executive decisions pending the formation of a new state administration.

“Therefore, claims that the state government failed to take any action are inaccurate, as the necessary measures had already been initiated before the State Assembly was dissolved,” he emphasized.

Fahmi’s clarification comes in response to viral social media posts referencing a letter dated around July 2022, which alleged unaddressed land encroachment across several villages in the Seremban district.
