KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 – Bursa Malaysia is projected to trade with a cautious bias in the coming week as market participants navigate lingering external uncertainties and uneven regional sentiment while balancing constructive domestic policy developments.
During the week ended Friday, October 16, 2026, the local equity market traded higher through the mid-week period, propelled by investor optimism following the tabling of Budget 2027, before surrendering gains to profit-taking activity on Thursday and Friday.
On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 0.69 of a point to close at 1,607.76 compared with 1,608.45 recorded the previous week.
Analysts expect short-term sentiment to remain sensitive to global interest rate expectations, commodity price fluctuations, and regional geopolitical developments.
