KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – Eight areas across Malaysia recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026, according to data from the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal.
Putrajaya recorded the highest API reading in the country at 162.
Affected Locations and API Breakdown
The eight locations recording unhealthy air quality (API 101–200) were concentrated across the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan:
- Putrajaya: 162
- Selangor: Johan Setia (155), Shah Alam (153), and Klang (151)
- Negeri Sembilan: Nilai (152), Port Dickson (120), and Seremban (114)
- Kuala Lumpur: Cheras (141)
Across the rest of the nation, 53 monitoring stations recorded moderate API levels (51–100), while seven areas registered good air quality (0–50).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100 is moderate; 101 to 200 is unhealthy; 201 to 300 is very unhealthy; and any reading above 300 is classified as hazardous.
