Department of Environment Declares Unauthorized Procurement Documents Invalid Following Misuse Reports

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 13 – The Department of Environment (DOE) has declared that any letter or document utilizing the name, position, or personal details of its officers for official business that is not issued through established official channels is invalid and will not be recognized by the department.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the DOE clarified that the public warning follows reports circulating on social media and recent media coverage regarding the unauthorized use of the department’s name, as well as officers’ credentials, for bogus procurement transactions and booking arrangements, including incidents reported in Kuala Lumpur.

Addressing the severity of the impersonation, the department stated, “The DOE does not authorise the use of the department’s name, positions, or officers’ details without permission for such purposes, as this could mislead the public and stakeholders, and compromise the department’s credibility and integrity.” Consequently, the agency categorically denied any involvement by the department or its personnel in vendor appointments, purchases, or procurement transactions initiated by third parties using officers’ identities.

Viewing the matter seriously, the DOE confirmed that it has lodged an official police report to facilitate thorough investigations by law enforcement authorities. The department affirmed that it will provide full cooperation to assist investigating officers and ensure that the issue is handled in strict accordance with prevailing laws.

Reiterating standard operating procedures for official transactions, the DOE emphasized that all department business, including procurement and vendor appointments, must strictly adhere to established government protocols and official channels. “Any party with doubts regarding the authenticity of a letter or document bearing the DOE’s name is advised to seek direct verification from the department through official channels,” the statement added.
