Dataran Putrajaya Fully Prepared for 69th National Day Celebration Featuring 10,800 Participants

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — Dataran Putrajaya is fully prepared to stage Malaysia’s 69th National Day celebration tomorrow, bringing together over 10,800 parade participants, a massive showcase of national assets, and vibrant cultural performances under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, are scheduled to grace the event alongside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and members of the Cabinet. Scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, the grand parade involves 10,819 participants across 76 contingents, 22 marching bands, 11 float vehicles, 328 land, naval, and air assets, 112 working animals, and 22 electric vehicles.

The event will open with the “Gema Inovasi MADANI” performance, coordinated by the National Department for Culture and Arts under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Featuring 150 percussion instruments and 700 traditional and innovative kompang (frame drums), the opening spectacle brings together traditional rhythms representing Malaysia’s main ethnic groups as symbols of national unity, harmony, and cultural heritage.

The statehood segment will feature a large Jalur Gemilang-bearing contingent accompanied by cadet officers from the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) alongside National Service Training Programme (PLKN) trainees. They will be joined by national athletes and medalists from the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, private sector representatives, and public security agencies including the Malaysia Civil Defence Force, the Road Transport Department, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, and the Johor Military Force.

Adding vibrancy to the procession, floats for the Visit Malaysia Year 2026-2027 campaign will showcase state tourism icons alongside strategic airline partners, while Les’ Copaque’s popular animation characters Upin and Ipin will entertain younger spectators. A human graphics performance involving 1,500 Selangor school students will accompany the parade, culminating in a high-speed flypast by Royal Malaysian Air Force fighter jets. The program will conclude at approximately 10:00 am with the national theme song “Aku Berjanji”, composed and performed by Faizal Tahir.

In light of ongoing haze conditions, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil advised visitors attending Dataran Putrajaya to wear N95 face masks, with organizers distributing over 10,000 N95 masks to parade participants. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs advised the public to utilize public transportation due to the full closure of Putrajaya’s Core Island and five major bridges starting from 5:00 am on Aug 30 until 6:00 pm on Aug 31.
