MELAKA, Oct 29 – The Ministry of Communications will establish a central media facility at Hotel Mudzaffa in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, to support journalists covering the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election.
Naim Fahmi Ahmad Tajuddin, Secretary of the Ministry’s Strategic and Corporate Communications Division, announced that the media centre will operate daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM starting Friday, October 30, through polling day on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
To further assist media personnel across the state, the ministry has activated National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) throughout Melaka to function as auxiliary media hubs, operating daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
In a concurrent statement, the ministry confirmed that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will deploy a dedicated service counter inside the main media centre.
The MCMC counter will monitor telecommunications performance, resolve network coverage disruptions, and coordinate oversight of harmful online content—including issues related to 3R topics (religion, race, and royalty), digital scams, and online impersonation.
The 15th Melaka State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on September 23, with the Election Commission (EC) setting nomination day for Saturday, October 31, early voting for Tuesday, November 10, and polling day for Saturday, November 14.
