KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 — A two-storey terrace house in Alam Damai, Cheras, was completely destroyed in an early morning fire yesterday, believed to have been triggered by an electric vehicle (EV) being charged in the home’s foyer.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed the incident in a statement today, noting that emergency services received a distress call at 5:03 a.m.
Following the alert, response teams from the Cheras, Sungai Besi, and Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Stations were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, firefighters found the double-storey residential property fully engulfed in flames, with the structure ultimately suffering 100 per cent damage.
Ahmad Mukhlis reported that no injuries or casualties were sustained during the incident. Firefighting crews brought the blaze under control, with extinguishing operations officially concluding at 6:41 a.m.
