KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 – Bursa Malaysia maintained its positive momentum at midday on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, tracking regional equity market gains following an overnight rally on Wall Street powered by megacap technology stocks and artificial intelligence (AI) investment optimism.
At 12:30 PM, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) advanced 5.49 points, or 0.34 per cent, to trade at 1,637.24 compared to Monday’s closing mark of 1,631.75.
After opening 4.63 points higher at 1,636.38, the index fluctuated within a range of 1,635.21 to 1,641.20 during the morning trading session.
Global Dynamics and Market Breadth
Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) noted that strong earnings momentum and robust AI investments supported US markets despite rising Treasury yields.

- Global Commodity & Debt Markets: Brent crude oil eased below US$102 per barrel amid recovering West Asia exports, G7 emergency stockpile releases, and Saudi price cuts. Meanwhile, the US 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.33 per cent amid persistent inflation concerns.
- Market Breadth: Advancing counters outpaced decliners 524 to 428, with 520 counters remaining unchanged, 1,310 untraded, and 13 suspended.
- Trading Volume: Total turnover reached 2.36 billion units valued at RM1.24 billion.
