LUMUT, Sept 6 — Budget 2027 is expected to place particular emphasis on addressing socioeconomic challenges, specifically prioritizing the welfare of middle-income (M40) and lower-income (B40) households, according to Kamil Mumin, an aide to the Finance Minister.

Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, political secretary to Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, stated that focusing on both groups is necessary as they remain the most affected by current economic pressures and cost-of-living challenges.

“The Budget to be announced by the Prime Minister will be another more inclusive Budget, one that is closer to the people and can, to some extent, resolve several problems and issues that have arisen,” Kamil said. “For now, the parties involved are still conducting direct engagement sessions with all stakeholders to finalise the Budget.”

Kamil spoke to reporters after officiating the National Khatam Keris Traditional Ceremony organized by the Perak branch of the Persatuan Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia at the Teluk Batik Campsite today. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 9.

He confirmed that existing direct cash assistance programs, such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), will continue and be further strengthened to ease household financial burdens.

Furthermore, Kamil noted that consideration is being given to proposals aimed at expanding targeted relief mechanisms and financial support for middle-income families, emphasizing that national political and economic stability remain vital to guaranteeing smooth policy implementation.
