JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 14 — A bomb threat sent via email targeting business premises at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey last night has been confirmed as a hoax after police inspections found no explosives on the property.
Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arshad said authorities were alerted by the shopping mall’s management at 11:31 pm, prompting the immediate deployment of the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) to the location.
The safety sweep was conducted by the UPB from the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), assisted by officers from the South Johor Bahru District Police Headquarters (IPD), covering both the interior and exterior areas of the complex.
Although several suspicious objects were discovered and examined by the bomb disposal team during the search, none contained explosive materials.
“No bomb threat was detected, and the area has been declared completely safe,” Ab Rahaman said in a statement today.
Ab Rahaman emphasized that police take any threat involving explosives seriously and will act immediately to safeguard the public. He also urged the public to refrain from speculating or spreading unverified rumors to prevent unnecessary panic and confusion.
