Body of Final Victim Recovered at Pantai Tanjung Lompat, Four-Day SAR Operation Concludes

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 5 — The four-day search and rescue (SAR) operation at Pantai Tanjung Lompat in Kota Tinggi concluded today following the recovery of the fourth and final missing teenager, Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian.

Acting Tanjung Sedili Maritime Zone director Maritime Commander Mohd Najib Sam stated that members of the public discovered the 16-year-old victim’s body at 3.05 pm, approximately 3.1 nautical miles from where the drowning incident occurred. The identity of the victim was subsequently confirmed by his next of kin.

“Throughout the four-day operation, all the agencies involved had shown high commitment by mobilising their personnel, assets, and expertise to ensure that the search efforts were carried out thoroughly,” Mohd Najib said in a statement today.

Mohd Najib expressed his deepest condolences to the victims’ families while extending appreciation to all multi-agency search teams, local fishermen, boat operators, and members of the public who assisted with sea surveillance and information throughout the operation coordinated by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).

The tragedy began on Wednesday morning when emergency authorities received a call at 8.19 am regarding six 16-year-old boys who encountered difficulties while swimming. While two teenagers were rescued by members of the public shortly after, four were swept away by currents.

With today’s recovery of Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian, all four missing victims—including Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor, Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, and Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal—have now been brought to shore.
