SEREMBAN, Aug 1 — Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has submitted three candidate names for the position of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar to the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The UMNO president delivered the official letter during a royal audience at Istana Hinggap at approximately 10:00 pm tonight.

“I submitted the three names at His Royal Highness’s discretion for consent, and it is His Royal Highness’s absolute right to choose one of the names presented as the candidate for the new Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan,” Ahmad Zahid told reporters outside the palace gates following the meeting.

Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, declined to reveal the identities of the three nominees, noting that an official announcement will be issued directly by the palace.

“Alhamdulillah, congratulations to all BN candidates. I have been called upon to have an audience tonight, and the palace will issue a statement as soon as possible,” he added.

“With these 25 seats, with His Majesty’s consent, the BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) government will be formed as the new government for Negeri Sembilan,” he confirmed.

In a subsequent statement shared on Facebook, Ahmad Zahid confirmed that he presented both the official state election results and the formal power-sharing agreement reached between BN and PN during the audience.

He expressed BN’s gratitude for Tuanku Muhriz’s consideration and reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to constitutional principles, stability, and good governance across the state.

“BN will continue to uphold, preserve, and respect the royal institution as the umbrella of the state’s sovereignty, a symbol of the people’s unity, and the core of the Constitutional Monarchy system,” Ahmad Zahid wrote.

The submission follows unofficial election tallies indicating that a combined BN-PN alignment secured 25 out of 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, achieving a two-thirds legislative majority.
