NEW DELHI, Sept 11 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in New Delhi on Friday to represent Malaysia at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, expressing optimism that the diplomatic mission will achieve its strategic objectives. Speaking upon his arrival, Anwar noted that he is bringing Malaysia’s perspective to the international stage guided by the nation’s MADANI Diplomacy framework.
In a light-hearted social media update following his arrival in the Indian capital that quickly caught the attention of social media users, Anwar shared, “Alhamdulillah, Guru has safely arrived in New Delhi, India to represent the country on the world stage at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit.” He added, “Please pray that this diplomatic mission achieves its objectives. May the students learn from Guru how MADANI Diplomacy is put into practice. Slayyy,”.
The aircraft carrying the Prime Minister and the Malaysian delegation landed at the Air Force Station (AFS) Palam in New Delhi at 6:30 pm local time (9:00 pm Malaysian time) on Friday. On Sunday, September 13, Anwar is scheduled to attend the official opening session of the summit, where he will deliver Malaysia’s National Statement focused on “Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth”.
Hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit carries the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. The multilateral conference centers on bolstering regional and global economic resilience, advancing trade and investment reforms, and expanding international economic cooperation.
