Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Approves RM1.6 Billion in Micro-Financing for 185,000 Entrepreneurs Nationwide

JELEBU, July 21 — Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has disbursed RM1.6 billion in micro-financing to nearly 185,000 entrepreneurs across the nation during the first six months of this year, demonstrating Putrajaya’s aggressive drive to uplift micro-businesses and B40 households.

Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim Chee Keong emphasized that the massive capital injection underscores the government’s steadfast commitment to socioeconomic empowerment, focusing heavily on female business owners and low-income communities.

Speaking at a gathering with TEKUN Nasional and Negeri Sembilan AIM entrepreneurs in Simpang Durian near here today, Sim stressed that rapid and streamlined fund disbursement remains vital to helping local traders scale operations and stimulate grassroots economic growth.

“This shows our determination to ensure financial assistance reaches entrepreneurs directly,” Sim told attendees during the community session.

Zooming in on regional impact, the minister revealed that AIM approved RM50 million in micro-loans within Negeri Sembilan alone over the same six-month window, providing direct economic relief and growth capital to approximately 5,000 state-based entrepreneurs.

Sim reiterated that the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) is actively reforming institutional workflows across its enforcement and funding arms, including AIM and TEKUN Nasional, to eliminate redundant bureaucracy and shorten application processing times.

Addressing equity in fund distribution, the minister gave firm assurances that loan approvals are determined purely on objective merit and business viability, completely insulated from political affiliations or nepotistic “cable” influence.

“We want healthy competition among financing agencies as they strive to safeguard the welfare of entrepreneurs, expedite the disbursement of funds, and ensure the people’s economy continues to grow,” Sim affirmed.
