ALOR GAJAH, Nov 3 – Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is optimistic about sweeping all seven seats it is contesting in the 16th Melaka State Election, announced party President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Speaking to reporters following a political talk at Jalan Telok Gong in Pengkalan Balak on Monday night, Mohamad stated that his confidence stems from strong youth backing for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the coalition’s strategic decision to field fresh, new-generation representatives.

“Amanah is contesting seven (seats), and we are confident of winning all seven, Insya-Allah,” Mohamad declared.

The ceramah was also attended by PH candidate for Kuala Linggi, Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah, who stands as the youngest candidate across the entire state election.

Besides Kuala Linggi, the remaining six seats contested by Amanah in Melaka include:

  • Bukit Katil: Contested by Melaka PH Chairman and seat incumbent Adly Zahari.
  • Durian Tunggal: Contested by Datuk Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat.
  • Telok Mas: Contested by Capt (Rtd) Mohamad Jaafar.
  • Merlimau: Contested by Rahayu Hamzah.
  • Sungai Rambai: Contested by Aminuddin Abdul Jalil.
  • Taboh Naning: Contested by Junainah Sahat.

Addressing PH’s decision to field eight young candidates across Melaka, Mohamad emphasized that selections were made strictly based on qualifications and merit while grooming next-generation leaders.

“That is why we are putting forward young people who we believe are qualified and capable. We are giving them the opportunity from the outset,” he explained, sharing that he was 27 when he first ran as a candidate. He clarified that promoting youth does not sideline veteran leaders, stressing the importance of combining experienced and fresh perspectives.

Regarding the flagship Bukit Katil constituency, Mohamad noted that no seat can be deemed entirely safe, though he remains confident in voters’ discernment. Incumbent Adly Zahari faces a four-cornered fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Ridzuan Sarif, Parti Bersama Malaysia’s Dr Aliza Che Amran, and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed Tuesday, November 10, 2026, for early voting, followed by polling day on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
