KUCHING, May 6 – The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) today handed over 500,000 pairs of rubber gloves and face masks to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) for use by frontliners to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aid was handed over by MPIC Deputy Minister Willie Mongin to JPBN chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at a simple ceremony held at Dewan Undangan Negeri Lama in Petra Jaya here.
In his speech, Willie reminded Sarawakians not to become complacent and to always be wary, even if the state managed to bring the pandemic under control, and asked that the current situation not be turned into a political issue by certain parties.
Apart from presenting the contributions to JPBN, the ministry also handed over 500,000 pieces of gloves and face masks for use by frontliners in hospitals, clinics, police stations, fire stations, district officers and district councils throughout the state.
