PUTRAJAYA, April 21 — Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali gave his statement at the Putrajaya district police headquarters this afternoon with regard to his visit last Friday to the Tahfiz Quran Lid Dakwah Wal Imamah in Lenggong, Perak.
In a press statement yesterday, the Bagan Serai MP said he was willing to give full cooperation to the police in the investigation.
In the same statement, Dr Noor Azmi also apologised to Malaysians for the incident that allegedly violated the directive of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“I apologise and admit my mistake regarding my presence at the Maahad Tahfiz Quran at Lid Dakwah Wal Imamah in Lenggong, Perak on Friday, after an official visit to the Lenggong Health Clinic.
“I also appreciate the great sacrifices made by the frontliners such as the police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Health personnel and other government agencies involved in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you for your service and sacrifices,” he said.
Last Friday, several photographs Dr Noor Azmi uploaded on Facebook showing his visit to a religious school had gone viral, with netizens saying he had violated the MCO.
The media reported that Perak Police Chief Datuk Razarudin Husain said initial investigations found that Dr Noor Azmi had earlier viewed the preparedness of the Health Ministry staff in Lenggong in his capacity as Deputy Health Minister.
The investigation paper on Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali who was said to have violated the Movement Control Order (MCO) when he attended a lunch event at a religious school in Perak recently is expected to be completed yesterday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the investigation paper will be submitted to the public prosecutor for further action.
“Investigations are still being conducted and (the paper) is expected to be ready today. All the cases which went viral such as this will definitely be investigated and action taken,” he said yesterday to national news agency BERNAMA
