British High Commission KL Remembrance Sunday Tugu Negara

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 – The British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur hosted its annual Remembrance Sunday service at Tugu Negara on Sunday, November 8, 2026, marking 81 years since the end of World War II.

The solemn ceremony brought together members of the diplomatic corps, defense attachés, military leaders, and civil society to honor military service personnel and civilians who served during both World Wars and subsequent armed conflicts.

British High Commissioner to Malaysia Ajay Sharma emphasized that the sacrifices of past generations serve as an enduring reminder to safeguard global peace.

“Today, we stand in quiet reflection to remember the courage and sacrifice of all those who served in times of war and conflict, especially those who never returned home,” Sharma stated. “As we honour their memory, we renew our shared responsibility to work together towards a future defined by peace and understanding.”

Key highlights of the commemorative service included:

  • Musical & Spoken Performances: A performance by students from The International School @ Park City, religious reflections led by Reverend Dinesh Natorajan, and poetry readings by Lieutenant General (R) Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng, Kenneth Speldewinde, and UK Defence Advisor Colonel James Green OBE.
