DOHA, Nov 8 – Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil is participating in two high-level ministerial forums in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday, November 8, 2026, aimed at strengthening global cooperation in digital ecosystem development.
Fahmi is taking part in the Ministerial Panel at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Doha 2026: Digital Leadership Forum and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) Ministerial Roundtable, both hosted at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
The engagements form a core part of Fahmi’s official working visit to Doha, where he is leading the Malaysian delegation to ITU PP-26.
During the morning session at MWC Doha 2026, Fahmi will join a ministerial panel titled “Accelerating Cooperation for a Connected Digital Future,” addressing international strategies for digital connectivity.
In the afternoon, Fahmi will participate in the PP-26 Doha Ministerial Roundtable, featuring ministerial presentations, policy discussions, and the official launch of the Doha Ministerial Declaration. He will also inspect technology showcases by global telecommunications leaders—including Huawei, Ericsson, Ooredoo, Nokia, and VEON—before attending a networking dinner hosted by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA).
A key objective of Malaysia’s participation in Doha is securing re-election to the ITU Council for the 2027–2030 term. Malaysia, an ITU member state since February 3, 1958, currently holds a seat on the ITU Council for the 2023–2026 term following elections at the PP-22 conference in Bucharest, Romania. ITU PP-26 serves as the highest quadrennial decision-making authority setting global telecommunications policies and strategic direction.
