KUANTAN, Oct 11 – Wanita PKR has lodged an official police report against the administrator of the Facebook account “Eric See-To”—also known as “Lim Sian See”—for allegedly uploading a post that mocked an expression associated with a Quranic verse.
Wanita PKR Executive Committee Member Farahida Fauzi confirmed that the report was filed at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters around noon on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Farahida, who also serves as Wanita PKR Pahang Deputy Chief, called on law enforcement agencies to execute a swift, thorough, and impartial investigation into the social media posting.
Police Report Details, Political Reactions, and Religious Ministry Stance
The police report follows widespread backlash from political figures and Islamic affairs authorities:
- Urgent Investigation Demand: Farahida emphasized that if a breach of existing laws is established, the authorities must take firm legal action without delay, cautioning the public against using religion for publicity, provocation, or online popularity.
- UMNO Youth Demand for Apology: UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh previously demanded a public apology from the account owner for allegedly ridiculing the term “Lighad,” stating that belittling Quranic terminology offends religious sensitivities and must not be taken lightly.
- Religious Affairs Ministry Warning: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan reiterated that the sanctity of the Quran must be upheld as the primary source of Islamic guidance, condemning any acts of ridicule as irresponsible and harmful to social harmony.
Police in Kuantan are expected to review the Facebook posting as part of preliminary investigations.
