KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 – The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) has officially launched the Gaza Winter Humanitarian Aid Campaign 2026, aiming to raise RM5 million in donations to assist displaced Palestinians ahead of the harsh winter season.
MAPIM President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid stated that the initiative comes as living conditions in Gaza are anticipated to deteriorate further during the winter months, which will also coincide with the holy month of Ramadan.
“We aim to raise at least RM5 million over five months until April or May next year. The fund will cover basic necessities such as food, warm clothing, medicines, tents and clean water supplies,” Mohd Azmi informed reporters during the campaign launch in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Phased Distribution Framework and Delivery Mechanisms
MAPIM plans to execute the relief distribution across multiple phases to ensure continuous support throughout the winter period:
- Distribution Schedule: The first phase of humanitarian aid is scheduled for deployment at the end of October 2026, followed by a second consignment in mid-November. Deliveries will continue through April 2027.
- Delivery Routes: To bypass operational disruptions, MAPIM will utilize a multi-pronged distribution approach, including direct financial transfers to verified local partners in Gaza, funding local non-governmental organization (NGO) projects, collaborating with international aid agencies, and utilizing established physical transport corridors.
Corporate Support and Community Fundraising
Local actor and ST Rosyam Mart operator Datuk Rosyam Nor (Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin) pledged full corporate backing for MAPIM’s winter campaign.
ST Rosyam Mart announced a direct contribution of RM100,000 to the fund and will permit MAPIM to display campaign promotional materials across all 10 of its retail outlets nationwide.
Additionally, Rosyam Nor proposed the “RM10 Seorang Rakyat Malaysia” (RM10 From Every Malaysian) micro-donation initiative, which will be promoted across ST Rosyam Mart branches and his personal social media channels to encourage broad public participation.
