KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – Five individuals were arrested and untaxed goods worth over RM1 million were seized during a joint law enforcement raid at the Subang Industrial Park in Subang Jaya on Thursday morning.
The multi-agency operation, codenamed “Op Taring Alpha 5,” was led by Bukit Aman’s Wildlife Crime Control Bureau/Special Investigation Intelligence (WCB/PSK) alongside the Petaling District Health Office, Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).
WCB/PSK Commander Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar confirmed that authorities raided the industrial premises at 11:30 AM following intelligence gathered on illicit distribution activities.
Seizures and Arrests
During the operation, officers confiscated 118 types of food products manufactured in China alongside 23 boxes of suspected duty-unpaid liquor, also imported from China. The combined value of the seized goods is estimated at RM1,022,635.20.
Five individuals on-site were taken into custody during the operation:
- One local male manager
- Four Myanmar nationals serving as site supervisors and general workers
“Inspections of the premises revealed non-compliance with the law, including offences under the Food Act 1983, Customs Act 1967 and Immigration Act 1959/63,” Mohd Zaki stated.
Inter-Agency Enforcement Outcomes
Mohd Zaki emphasized that multi-agency operations remain vital when targeting premises engaging in concurrent violations across customs duties, immigration control, licensing rules, and food safety standards.
Providing an overview of WCB/PSK’s enforcement metrics from January 1 through October 1, 2026, Mohd Zaki disclosed that the division has conducted 272 raids nationwide. These operations have led to 459 arrests and total property seizures valued at RM331,717,981.96 involving contraband smuggling, subsidized goods diversion, wildlife trafficking, and illegal e-waste processing.
