NEW YORK, Sept 25 -Delegates representing numerous member states staged a mass walkout from the United Nations General Assembly hall in New York City on Thursday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stepped to the rostrum to deliver his address.
The diplomatic protest took place during the 81st UNGA session, signaling widespread international condemnation of Israel’s ongoing military operations in Palestinian territories.
Despite the mass exit of diplomats from the assembly hall, Netanyahu proceeded with his address amid mounting global pressure and condemnation regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza.
According to Gaza health authorities, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the enclave since October 2023.
The walkout comes against the backdrop of heightened legal and diplomatic scrutiny surrounding the Israeli leadership. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the Gaza conflict.
