TANAH MERAH, Sept 24 – A 39-year-old woman was killed, while her husband and four children sustained injuries, following a head-on collision between their Perodua Alza and a Toyota Hilux at Jalan Rantau Panjang-Panglima Bayu on Wednesday afternoon.
Tanah Merah District Police Chief Supt Mohd Haki Hasbullah identified the deceased as Tengku Ziarulwida Tuan Zainudin, 39, who succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the 3:00 PM crash.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the Perodua Alza, driven by the victim’s husband, Mohd Saifulzawawi Ghani, 39, was travelling from Rantau Panjang towards Panglima Bayu before colliding head-on with the oncoming pickup truck.
“Mohd Saifulzawawi and two of his children were seriously injured and admitted to the Red Zone of Tanah Merah Hospital. The other two children are in the Yellow Zone,” Mohd Haki said in a statement.
The driver of the Toyota Hilux, identified as 48-year-old Che Ibrahim Che Min, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Police confirmed that the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
