MACC Completes KLVC Probe, Recommends Charges Against Former Felda Executives

KAJANG, Sept 19 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will recommend prosecuting a former Felda director-general and a former Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB) chief executive officer following the completion of its investigation into the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the impending charges today, noting that the agency is also advancing its broader “Op Fella” investigation. As part of this wider probe, MACC recorded a statement from former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad at Sungai Buloh Prison on Sept 17.

“Investigations are ongoing, and the statement was recorded at Sungai Buloh Prison on Sept 17. It is expected to continue next week,” Abd Halim told reporters at a press conference today.

The overarching “Op Fella” investigation examines suspected corruption and financial misappropriation regarding asset purchases and investments executed by Felda and FICSB. Key parameters of the ongoing probe include:

• Extensive Timeline: The investigation scrutinizes financial activities spanning a 10-year period from 2010 to 2020.
• Expanded Scope: MACC has opened six new investigation papers while simultaneously continuing one existing case.
• Witness Engagements: As of Sept 18, investigators have recorded statements from 34 witnesses across the seven distinct cases, encompassing former board members from both Felda and FICSB.

While multiple cases remain active, Abd Halim emphasized that MACC is currently prioritizing the KLVC misappropriation allegations. For this specific case, the commission recorded statements from 30 witnesses, including Felda management and board personnel.

The two individuals slated for prosecution were previously remanded by the court before being released on MACC bail. The commission will now submit the completed investigation papers to the Attorney General’s Chambers to seek formal consent to proceed with the charges.
