Mohd Marzuki Yasoa’ Appointed New CEO of Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — Mohd Marzuki Yasoa’ has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (SKM).

SKM stated that Marzuki, who brings over 26 years of experience in the cooperative movement, is expected to enhance the commission’s capacity to navigate an increasingly dynamic landscape while strengthening the competitiveness, professionalism, and governance of the sector.

“The appointment marks an important step towards strengthening SKM’s leadership and ensuring continuity in its administration, in line with its aspiration to further empower the cooperative movement as a contributor to the country’s socioeconomic development,” the commission said in a statement today.

In his new role, Marzuki will oversee SKM’s management and day-to-day operations, ensuring the integrity-driven and effective execution of cooperative development policies, strategies, and programmes.

Under his leadership, the commission will prioritize building ecosystem capacity, expanding business activities, driving digital transformation, and fostering innovation across the cooperative sector.

As Malaysia’s sole regulatory body for cooperatives, SKM added that it will continue working closely with the Cooperative Institute of Malaysia (IKMa) for training and human capital development, alongside Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA), which represents the movement nationally and internationally. The commission also plans to step up strategic collaborations with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), state governments, and relevant stakeholders to position the cooperative sector as a primary driver of the national economy.
