KOTA BHARU, Sept 12 – A 23-year-old Thai national man was found drowned in Sungai Golok along the Malaysia-Thailand border near Kampung Pengkalan Pasir and Abe Yie in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, on Saturday evening. The victim, identified as Faiz Hasan, was recovered by Thai authorities at 7:10 pm while a joint multi-agency search and rescue (SAR) operation was actively underway.

Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Station chief Hamzah Musa stated that the station received an initial emergency call from the General Operations Force (GOF) at 6:27 am on Friday regarding an individual who had jumped into the river and failed to resurface.

Search efforts along the riverbank commenced early Friday morning at 7:00 am before resuming on Saturday. The multi-agency response mobilized eight personnel from the Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Station, working alongside local police and a specialized diving unit dispatched from Thailand.

Following the recovery, Hamzah confirmed that the victim’s body was transferred to Thai authorities for further procedures, with the joint SAR operation officially called off at 7:15 pm on Saturday.
