KUCHING, Sept 8 — A BO-105 helicopter carrying five people on a Flying Doctor Service mission crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) airport today, located approximately 929 kilometres north of Kuching.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed it received notification of the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3:58 pm.
The helicopter was carrying five individuals, including the pilot, at the time of the crash. CAAM did not provide details regarding any casualties in its official statement.
The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), operating under the Ministry of Transport, will investigate the incident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
