Police Arrest 11 Over Violent Group Assault on Man in Taman Pengkalan Jaya, Ipoh

IPOH, Sept 5 — Police have detained 11 local individuals to assist in investigations following a violent group assault that left a 26-year-old victim severely injured in Taman Pengkalan Jaya here on Tuesday (Sept 1).

Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin confirmed that the attack occurred at approximately 10:30 AM when the victim was approached by five men travelling in two cars. The suspects chased and set upon the victim.

In an effort to escape the assault, the victim jumped into Sungai Kinta but was slashed with a machete by one of the assailants, sustaining severe lacerations to his face, hands, legs, and back. Members of the public who witnessed the incident rendered assistance to the victim before transporting him to the hospital for medical treatment.

“The incident was believed to have been motivated by revenge and dissatisfaction by an organised crime group against the victim,” Mohd Alwi said in an official statement released last night.

Following swift police action, all 11 suspects—aged between 22 and 41—were arrested. Background checks revealed that every suspect has prior records involving drug offences and violent crimes.

All 11 individuals have been remanded to facilitate ongoing investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Mohd Alwi urged anyone possessing information on illegal activities linked to organised crime groups to contact the police operations room through official channels or report directly to the nearest police station.
