GUA MUSANG, July 31 — Three family members, including a young boy, were killed while another woman sustained severe injuries in a Gua Musang collision after their Perodua Myvi collided with a tanker lorry carrying diesel on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai near Gua Sejuk early this morning.
The deceased were identified as an adult man, an adult woman, and a young boy, while the trailer driver escaped unhurt.
Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli stated that the station received an emergency call regarding the fatal crash at 7.16 am.
A team of eight firefighters equipped with two fire engines was dispatched to the scene, arriving at 7.52 am to perform rescue operations.
“Special equipment was used to remove the victims who were trapped in the vehicle. All three passengers in the Perodua Myvi died at the scene and one was found seriously injured, while the lorry driver was unhurt,” Azrul Izzham said when contacted by reporters today.
Preliminary information indicates that the diesel tanker was traveling from Kuala Lumpur toward Kota Bharu when the head-on collision occurred.
The injured woman was rushed to Gua Musang Hospital for emergency medical treatment, while the bodies of the three deceased victims were transferred to the same hospital’s forensics department before being handed over to the police for post-mortem procedures and further investigation.
