SEREMBAN, Aug 16 (Bernama) — Barisan Nasional (BN) will defend all seats it won and contest all traditional seats that were previously given to Bersatu in the last Sabah state election.
BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) have agreed in principle to work together in the upcoming state election.
“We aim to contest the seats we won, and also traditional seats that we previously gave to Bersatu.
“In the previous Sabah election, many traditional BN seats were given to Bersatu in the spirit of cooperation. But we were backstabbed. We don’t want this to happen again,” he told reporters after officiating the Rembau UMNO Division Women’s, Youth and Puteri Wings meetings here today.
On tensions between UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) over the upside down Jalur Gemilang flag incident, Mohamad urged for all parties to remain calm and to avoid any action that could affect national harmony.
All parties need to discuss and seek a solution in the interest of national harmony as Malaysia was a multiracial and multireligious country, he added.
