JOHOR BAHRU, March 5 — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah urged the Members of Parliament (MPs) to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) to further localize and encourage the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) efforts among their constituents.
According to him, 30 MPs have already joined APPGM for this purpose.
“Each member will organize four to five projects in a year to localize the SDG targets among the constituents. Slowly but surely, we’ll be able to create awareness of SDG among members of the public through these projects.”
“As such, we would like to invite more MPs to join this cause,” he told Bernama after an SDG dialogue session at EduCity Hub in Bandar Medini Iskandar, here, today which was attended by 60 university students of various nationalities.

Saifuddin said the ministry was planning to extend its SDG localization efforts to the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, particularly at the Thailand-Malaysia border.
“Almost 50 percent of the border trade between these two countries happens there. Thus, we’re taking this dynamic into account in our localization efforts,” he added.
Previously, Saifuddin reportedly said that the ministry was working closely with stakeholders, including the local authorities in an effort to localize SDG in the country.
