35 Areas With Unhealthy Air Quality At 10 Am

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 – A total of 35 areas across Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal revealed that Batu Pahat in Johor and Johan Setia in Selangor recorded the highest API levels nationwide, both reaching 190.

They were closely followed by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 189 each, while Putrajaya registered an API reading of 187.

Regional Breakdown of Unhealthy API Readings

Unhealthy air quality levels were detected across several states in Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia:

  • Selangor & Kuala Lumpur: Shah Alam recorded an API of 180, followed by Batu Muda (177), Petaling Jaya (176), Banting (176), and Klang (169).
  • Negeri Sembilan & Melaka: Seremban recorded 181 and Port Dickson reached 169. In Melaka, Bukit Rambai stood at 175, while Alor Gajah and Bandaraya Melaka both recorded 174.
  • Johor: Segamat recorded an API of 177, Pasir Gudang (173), Tangkak (169), Larkin (167), Pengerang (165), Kota Tinggi (164), and Kluang (161).
  • Perak: Tanjung Malim recorded 154, Tasek Ipoh reached 147, and Pegoh Ipoh recorded 113.
  • Pahang & Terengganu: Temerloh recorded 168, Indera Mahkota (160), Jerantut (159), Rompin (158), and both Balok Baru and Kuantan (156). In Terengganu, Kemaman and Paka recorded 156 each, while Kuala Terengganu registered 120.
  • Sabah & Sarawak: Tawau in Sabah recorded an API of 155, while the Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) area in Sarawak recorded 152.

Air Quality Status Overview

Across the remaining monitoring stations nationwide, 31 locations recorded moderate air quality levels, while only two areas registered good API readings.

According to APIMS standards, an API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and 300 or above is hazardous.
