KOTA KINABALU, Oct 3 – A weak earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck the Panginatan area in Ranau, Sabah, at 10:57 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the epicenter was detected at coordinates 5.9° North and 116.7° East, with a focal depth of 13 kilometers. The epicenter was located approximately 14 kilometers south of Ranau.
Monitoring and Data Collection
Tremors were felt by residents across Ranau district and the surrounding vicinity. MetMalaysia confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation following the event.
